Last weekend saw the marriage of Honley couple, Lynda and Nathan and it was my honour to be their wedding photographer. The wedding ceremony was at the very pretty St Mary’s, a small church in the hamlet of Wilshaw (between Meltham and Holmfirth) followed by their wedding reception at the fantastic Bagden Hall Hotel.
Bagden Hall (near Denby Dale) is one of my favourite wedding venues – it is licensed for civil wedding ceremony’s and it also makes a great venue for a reception (as was the case this weekend). The grounds are fantastic for photography (with woodland, ponds, open fields and a little folly over a bridge) and the whole feel of the hotel is classy – a real English mansion for the day (and night!). My last visit to Bagden Hall as a wedding photographer was back in December 2010 when there was a thick covering of snow (photos here) so a summer wedding was a great contrast. Even in this pretty poor summer we are having, the weather was on our side! I never get too worried about the weather on a wedding day – there isn’t much you can do about it and there are always options for the photos – but the rain held off just long enough for it not to cause any problems.
