Naomi and Jame’s wedding at Saddleworth Hotel
Naomi and James were married at the fabulous Saddleworth Hotel last weekend. My day as wedding photographer started by covering the bridal preparations at Naomi’s parents house. I’ve known Naomi’s family for years so it was nice to have a catch up. Preparations were quite relaxed – it surprises me every time! The bride’s flowers had arrived so I got to work photographing them and the dresses whilst the girls were having their hair and makeup done.
Whilst I was doing the photography at the brides house, my assistant for the day, was having fun trying to get James, his best man and his grooms men to behave and have a couple of photos taken. Judging by the results, I think she managed to tame them – at least for a few moments!
Naomi’s Transport to the Saddleworth Hotel was provided by Anthony, the owner of the Saddleworth Hotel, in his rather beautiful Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead and the bridesmaids were taken in the hotels Maserati Quattroporte. It’s fair to say, the hotel has a gaggle of stunning motors!
The wedding ceremony was conducted by Darren who did a great job – not only doing the obvious duties, but also keeping the wedding guests entertained (intentionally and otherwise! To be fair, for those that didn’t know the brides maiden name, it isn’t the easiest to pronounce!).
Like so many wedding ceremonies, the hitch didn’t go completely without a hitch when James almost put Naomi’s ring on the wrong finger – which gave me a flash back to my own wedding day when my wife looked at me and whispered “which finger does it go on!” so you’re in good company James.
The grounds of the hotel are great for photography and we took advantage if this during the group shots and then headed into the adjoining woodland for a couple of portrait photos before the bride and groom let down their hair with their guests.
Between courses of the meal we shot a few family photos before whisking James and Naomi outside for one last portrait shot as the sun set behind the moors.
Keeping with tradition, the speeches were after the meal and as touching as the father of the brides speech was, it has to be said that Adam, the best man stole the show with highlights including moonies on a beach and a personal message by the BBC’s Mike Bushell!
