A massive congratulations to Thomas and Monique who got married at St Mary’s church, Wilshaw a couple of weeks ago, before heading to the beautiful Holdsworth house for their wedding reception. It was a pleasure to photograph their day!
St Mary’s is a little village church, a single aisle, but was packed with guests to witness this wedding! I had the pleasure of photographing a wedding there a few years ago and had already met the lovely vicar who couldn’t have been more welcoming. Monique has some special ties to the Church which go back generations so it was a wonderfully personal service.
After the wedding and nibbles at the Church, we headed off to another location that is special to the bride and groom for a few portrait shots before heading on to Holdsworth House.
For those that don’t know it, Holdsworth House is a hotel on the outskirts of Halifax. The impressive manor house section was built in 1633 and is full of period features and has a stunning formal garden which thankfully was able to be used despite heavy rain leading up to Thomas and Monique’s big day!
Transport was provided in the form of a VW Beetle owned by a family member –Â a car that the bride had had her eye on for wedding day transport for a long time (before meeting Thomas? he he)
A special mention needs to be made about the first dance – what started out as a mock, squirmy waltz turned into an all out mega energy rendition of “I believe In A Thing Called Love” by the Darkness! Fantastic!
Loads of personal touches throughout (many themed around the couples mutual love of all things “Whovian“) As usual, lots of fun was had! I couldn’t help but have a bit of fun in Photoshop – scroll to the bottom to see the result – only a quick bit of fun – not a serious attempt at photorealism! Monique and Thomas – it was an absolute pleasure to be your wedding photographer!
