Congratulations to Nick and Jenny who celebrated their wedding at North Fields Farm near Holmfirth. It was a pleasure to spend the day photographing you and your guests!
I arrived at North Fields Farm early to capture a few photos of the fantastic Tipi – the day started out pretty gray but despite a forecast of rain, thankfully, we saw very little.
Nick and the lads were busy putting the final touches in place whilst the ladies were getting their hair and makeup done. I got to work photographing the rings, wedding dress and shoes whilst capturing a bit of what was going on.
The ceremony itself was held inside the Tipi. For legal reasons, Nick and Jen and officially tied the knot the day before at the registry office and this was a Humanist ceremony and celebration – a first for me but it worked really well with all the sentiment, ceremony and loveliness you’d expect. For a couple with a fur baby of their own, the reading (by Nick’s sister, Kate) was very appropriately about what we can learn about love from dogs! Ace!
Banking the dry weather, we moved straight on to the group shots outside the tipi and then a quick portrait shoot with Nick and Jen in the grounds. Once in the bag, it’s always about capturing the mood and telling the story by photographing groups of people enjoying themselves, laughing and smiling with their friends and family and meeting the owls!
After the entertaining speeches, it was time to eat. Catering for the wedding was supplied by one of my favourite local farm shops / cafe’s – Hinchliffes and, having had one of the delicious lamb burgers, they didn’t disappoint! I took the opportunity to back up my photos to that point and choose a few favourite shots that I set up on a side show in the evening.
After such a grey day, I wasn’t expecting much of a sunset but wow was I wrong! One of the best I’ve seen on a wedding day!
With the first dance out of the way (under the giant disco ball that made great patterns one the walls of the tipi when I hit it with my flash), the dance floor filled up and the party carried on none stop until I said my good bye at about 11pm – a little later than usual but I was having too much fun and also trying out some new techniques for use in future weddings (dance floor shots with light trails anybody?)
