Last Saturday I had the great pleasure of joining Emily, Graham and their family for their wedding photography at the Huntsman Inn, Holmfirth after their wedding at St John’s, Upperthong. Although not from around these parts, Emily & Graham decided to return to the area they met in to tie the knot – and why not with the beautiful countryside around Holmfirth and a fab wedding venue such as the Huntsman Inn. I have photographed quite a few weddings at the Huntsman now – one of the most local to me which is always nice! They have a great function room, plenty of choices when it comes to photography and a great team of staff.
My day started with ‘the lads’ at the Old Bridge in Holmfirth before heading up to Holmfirth Vinyard to visit ‘the lasses’. A bit of backwards and forwards meant I got to cover both parties getting ready before the ceremony at St John’s the Evangelist. The ceremony ran with only one hitch (as planned, between the bride and groom) and we were heading fora quick portrait shoot near Digley in no time. Timing was tight so we kept the session short and headed straight to the Huntsman – we planned on doing the group shots outside whilst serenaded by the musician who was waiting for us but unfortunately, the weather had other ideas so we retreated indoors and so began the wettest afternoon and evening that I have experienced as a wedding photographer!
The first dance done, the hog roast devoured, it was time for fireworks which were spectacular (even in the rain). Braved by the excursion outside to see the fireworks, I grabbed a brolli and a flash and we had a bit of fun doing some portraits in the rain. Once I felt the evening do was in the can, I said my goodbyes and headed home.
Thanks to Mel and the team at the Huntsman for making me as welcome as ever and running a slick day!
